Usage analyses high on the list of SAP customer priorities
Würzburg, February 6, 2012 – What new capabilities does SAP Solution Manager 7.1 offer? And how can organizations add content to its new usage analyses to their best advantage? (These two questions were the primary focus of the 15th SAP-IBIS Conference, held at Marienberg Fortress in Würzburg and attended by more than 300 SAP users).
Released September 2011, SAP Solution Manager 7.1 offers a host of new functions. What´s more, it´s the first solution to enable management of SAP- and non-SAP systems alike. Among other features, it boasts a new monitoring and alerting infrastructure, plus a range of dashboards. And it´s more user-friendly than ever. Key innovations in SAP Solution Manager´s solution documentation are the result of SAP´s close cooperation with IBIS Prof. Thome.
The new version contains reverse business process documentation (RBPD). Specific check steps pinpoint which master data, processes and process steps from SAP Solution Manager´s business process repository (BPR) are active in an SAP system. RBPD supports usage analysis of SAP systems based on all transactions. Soon it will contain new information sources, such as usage and procedure logging (UPL) and detailed SQL queries, which deliver intelligent analysis of usage statistics. In cooperation with SAP, IBIS Prof. Thome also added SQL and UPL check steps for SAP Solution Manager´s work center, Solution Documentation Assistant (SDA). Thanks to UPL and SQL queries, SAP customers will profit from specific identification of processes actually used in their SAP system, and from improved assignment of individual transactions. These benefits will enable SAP customers to increase transparency in their IT landscapes and boost capacity to transform their organizations.
IBIS Prof. Thome enriched the new SAP Solution Manager´s Solution Documentation Assistant with business content and usage statistics. SAP now offers RBPD analyses for ERP, Retail, Utilities and Public Sector. "We received much positive feedback from customers at the SAP-IBIS Conference," Dr. Andreas Hufgard, Head of IBIS Labs at IBIS Prof. Thome, happily reports. "This means we´ll gradually expand the content for other SAP solutions over the next few months." By mid-2012, content will be available for SAP for Banking, SAP Solution Manager and SAP Customer Relationship Management. Analyses for Supplier Relationship Management and Supply Chain Management are slated for 2013.
SAP has made the new content available to its SAP Enterprise Support, PSLE (Product Support for Large Enterprises) and SAP MaxAttention customers. On request, SAP offers its MaxAttention customers supplementary IBIS services along with MaxAttention services. These may include Potential-, User and Role analyses, and ROI assessments and productivity analyses.
